Cascais Is Almost Too Beautiful To Leave

I wish I could share more photos, but we had trouble uploading photos from the camera. Such a shame because Cascais is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The sea is the most perfect color of green/blue and very clear. We could see fish swimming just beneath the surface in the harbor. The weather is stunning and this town is charming. Very moneyed, that’s obvious, but also very well cared for.

We walked the tile-lined streets and alleys yesterday. It was like Alfama, only even nicer. We ate fresh seafood at a little restaurant in a back alley and it was wonderful.

We’re staying in a home that was converted to a hotel, and it is lovely.

One thing that has stood out to us is how nice the people have been, every single time. Cab drivers, restaurant servers, hotel staff…just all so nice.

The car is picking us up in just minutes to take us to the start of our eight-mile walk. I know I keep saying how far a walk it is, but that’s not to impress anyone. It’s to remind myself of what’s ahead. I’m counting on the beauty of the scenery to distract from the length of the hike.

And here we go.
