We’ve spent the last two nights at Sao Saturnino, or something like that. It’s a former convent now converted into a hotel. It’s amazing, but we’ve been without internet until just this morning, and we are about to leave here in about 20 minutes, so this will be quick post.
On Friday, we left the Pergola House in Cascais and started out on our walk, which took us along the coast. It was so beautiful, and at times, so hard. We saw these houses high on the mountainside and thought what great views they must have. What never occurred to us that we would be walking there and beyond.
This is no stroll. Some of you heard me saying that it was more of a stroll than hike. I was so wrong. Also, it’s harder than much of the walk we did in Italy. I thought I was choosing something more suitable to our age and fitness (or lack thereof) level. Again, wrong. We’ve climbed mountains, seriously.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s so fun and so beautiful and there’s a sense of accomplishment at the end of each day that’s very satisfying. But there are also moments of walking up steep path after steep path that we wonder what in the world we were thinking.
I’ll try to post more tonight if we have internet. I can’t sign onto Facebook as my computer had to be reset, so there won’t be any posts from me in that manner.
