High Climbs, Great Vistas, Fabulous Food

We saw the most spectacular views we’ve ever seen during our hike Sunday on Galiano Island.

We set out after a great breakfast at the Inn. We walked a great trail and eventually climbed Mount Galiano. We’ve never seen anything like that view. The hike was challenging, but so worth it. In fact, all of these hikes have been challenging, in some ways the hardest we’ve ever done. But the payoffs have been worth it.

Now that’s a snail.

After Mount Galiano, the trail led us to some other great experiences. We visited a cemetery tucked into the bank next to the water. It was so interesting and peaceful. Betsy and I love to visit cemeteries, but oddly neither of us want to be buried in one.

On the way back down from the mountain, we stopped to look through the fence at a beautiful garden and talked with the woman who owned it.

As we were walking along the road headed to another trail, we saw this really inviting path leading to another garden. We walked down it a little way and then the owner invited us on a tour. He was so nice and his garden was so beautiful. Anyone reading this knows Betsy really loved this experience.

After leaving his garden, we entered another trail and walked to the Bluffs

After 7.5 hours of hiking and getting cleaned up we rented a Smart Car and drove to a farm-to-table restaurant that got top reviews, The Pilgrimme. It lived up to the hype. We can’t remember have a better dinner anywhere we’ve ever been. Very fresh, innovative and flavorful. We loved it.
